Martinique, a sailors paradise in the Caribbean with fantatsic French food. The biodiversity is remarkable – the green rainforests, tropical flowers, volcanoes and beaches. Regarding the beaches, you can find more than 60 of them with sand of all colours, from white, golden and pink to grey and black. There are beaches for everyone, and every day. The north is famous for its wild black sand beaches, black due to the volcanic eruptions while the most popular touristic white powder sand beaches are on the south Caribbean coast. If you are a fan of watersports including surfing, kitesurfing or windsurfing, then head to Tartane, Vauclin or Anse Michel for perfect waves and wind.

This wild natural beach is located in the very north of Martinique and features beautiful black sands bordered by coconut palms. The waters here are unpredictable and so are recommended for good swimmers; sometimes they allow you to enjoy snorkelling and swimming and at other times, you can have fun in big waves.

You should be aware of the current, as it can be quite strong depending on the weather conditions. Many consider this to be an authentic landscape similar to something you may see in Jurassic Park, and enjoy spending time in this idyllic setting.

This beach is located in the village of Diamant, and is one of the largest and most famous on the island with it’s great view of the Diamond Rock. With the beach being being 3km in length, it is a favourite beach for joggers. This is a great stop if part of your group wants to scuba dive the diamond rock, whilst others don’t. This beach has picnic areas scattered in the shade of coconut palms. There are also plenty of bars and restaurants nearby.

For the shoppers out there, you’ll find street vendors selling trinkets, jewellery and all types of foods and refreshments, including homemade ice cream, fruit juice and more. Les Salines has some small restaurants and bars where you can enjoy local specialities such as colombo chicken or grilled fish. This is one of the most popular beaches so it can often get crowded.

Anse Michel is a beautiful beach with its shallow crystalline water that is perfect for relaxing and swimming. Your family will enjoy the pleasant shady areas provided by the numerous coconut trees. With a steady breeze to keep you cool, windsurfers and kite surfers will also find this an excellent area to have fun, or you can rent jet skis for some adrenaline. If you prefer more privacy, have your captain drop you further along the coastline to the north where the beaches are quieter.

This is a more wild, authentic beach which is popular for camping. Within 800 metres of the shore you have a coral reef that protects the beach and creates a cove of tranquil waters that are known for their wonderful depth of colours – from deep blue to turquoise. With lots of plantlife nearby, it’s easy to find shade.
